Individual & Family Counseling · Addiction-Focused Care

Recovery isn't a straight line. Neither is the way there.

I'm Nick Burke, CADC — an addiction counselor with training in trauma-informed care, seeing teens, adults, and families who are ready to do the work.

About Nick

Eight years in practice. A career that started at 21.

Most of what I know about addiction, I learned before I ever had a license.

I've been in this field since I was 21 years old — five years as frontline staff and an admissions specialist, helping people take that first hard step into treatment. I'm also in recovery myself, which shapes how I sit with clients: not as someone observing from the outside, but as someone who understands the work from the inside too.

I'm now a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with three years in private practice, focused on addiction and trained in trauma-informed care. I work with teens navigating early struggles, adults facing long-standing patterns, and families trying to understand — and support — a loved one through it.

My approach is direct, steady, and rooted in the belief that recovery is possible, even when it doesn't look like a clean, forward line.

Who I Work With

Teens, adults, and the families around them.

Teens

Adolescents

Support for teens navigating early substance use and high-risk behavior — in language that meets them where they are.

Adults

Individual Adults

One-on-one work for adults facing addiction, whether early in the process, deep in it, or well into recovery and building what comes next.

Families

Family Systems

Guidance for families trying to understand a loved one's addiction, set healthy boundaries, and rebuild trust and communication over time.

My Approach

Addiction-focused. Trauma-aware. No judgment.

Addiction as the primary focus

Whether it's early experimentation, active use, or life after treatment, addiction is the center of the work — not a side note to something else.

Trauma-aware training

Training in trauma-informed care shapes how I show up — staying mindful of what may be underneath the substance use, not just the behavior on the surface.

Built on lived field experience

Eight years in the mental health and addiction field, starting long before the certification did — this isn't theoretical for me.

Family included, not sidelined

Addiction rarely affects one person alone. When it's helpful, family is part of the process — with clear boundaries around confidentiality.
